Gen Narumi, the captain of the First Division, skips out on work to eat at a restaurant. Before long, his platoon leaders come in and sit in the booth next to his. At first, they talk about all the things he does wrong, such as playing video games during training and using the communication channel to tell everyone whenever he’s trending online. However, they eventually start talking about why they like him. They explain that because of Narumi, they have the courage to continue fighting.
The vice captains of the First, Third, and Fourth Divisions meet up to discuss Narumi’s behavior. Hasegawa says that he would like to find a successor before he retires from the Defense Force. However, the other vice captains say that finding someone capable of replacing Hasegawa will be difficult, since not everyone has the patience to deal with Captain Narumi.
Narumi’s Week at Work was a lot of fun. Since all of the episodes are only three to four minutes long, I was able to finish the series pretty quickly. Even though the episodes were short, they were just as enjoyable as the full-length episodes of the main series. The anime stays relatively clean for the most part. There is a bath scene, but it only features Narumi and Vice Captain Hoshina’s brother, Soichiro. If you enjoyed Kaiju No. 8, I would definitely suggest giving Narumi’s Week at Work a try.
