Killed again, Mr. Detective.

Sakuya Outsuki is the son of the world famous detective Tatsuya Outsuki. However, while Sakuya is a detective, he isn't acknowledged as a good one by criminals, police officers, and detectives alike. The only person who is willing to stay by his side is his assistant Lilithea. One day he gets put on a case trying to uncover if a famous producer is cheating. He gets a ticket to a cruise liner where the producer is staying. It is there that he meets an actress named Yuriu Haigamine who is preparing for a role as a detective in movie. She asks to be Sakuya's apprentice after finding out that he is a detective himself. She then asks for his help looking for a lost cat that belongs to the producer that Sakuya is investigating. As he searches, he finds his way into a storage room where he is killed after finding a dead body. He then wakes up in the lap of his assistant Lilithea, ready to put his all into finding the murderer.

I originally started this because I heard that it had the same vibe as Ron Kamonohashi's Forbidden Deductions. It is similar, in the sense that it's the complete opposite of Ron Kamonohashi's Forbidden Deductions. Instead of having a power to make the murderer kill themselves, Sakuya is the one always getting killed. There is an arc that takes place at a hotel, which kind of reminded me of the hot spring inn case in Ron Kamonohashi's Forbidden Deductions as well. Overall I was a bit disappointed because I had my expectations set to high. It also felt a bit slower to me, meaning it lacked the sense of anticipation of finding out what happens next. While people typically dress modestly throughout the anime, there is a scene at the beginning of episode four where you see Lilithea in her underwear. If you decide to watch it and you don't like fan service, I would suggest skipping the first few minutes of episode four. While it wasn't for me, it might be just the thing for you if you enjoy mystery anime.

OSHI NO KO Season 3

It's been six months since B-Komachi's latest song. Aqua has started doing a talk show, while Akane is in a movie. Mem-cho and Kana continue their work as idols, while Ruby manages to rise in popularity by making a surprise appearance as a reporter on Aqua's current show. This makes the subscriber count for B-Komachi's Youtube channel skyrocket, So much so that Kana and Mem wonder if they are actually helping the group. Will things continue to work out as they have been, or will the toxic entertainment industry become too much for Aqua and Ruby to bear?

I will admit I didn't like Oshi No Ko Season 3 as much as the other 2 seasons. It doesn't get very involved with the behind the scenes stuff with Aqua's talk show like season 2 did with the 2.5D stage play of Tokyo Blade. It focuses more on the mystery of Ai's death. It was actually kind of stressful to watch, but at the same time there were parts of it that made me laugh really hard though. I was wondering if I was even going to try and watch the fourth season when it comes out, but after seeing the finale I definitely am going to watch it. Everyone dresses modestly and the language is clean. If you enjoyed the first two seasons I would suggest giving the third one a try, but just know it has a completely different vibe from before.

Akame ga Kill!

Tatsumi is a boy from a rural village who dreams of making it rich in the capital to save his impoverished village. However, after getting separated from his friends he is given a warning  that the capital is full of monsters. Not the magical beasts that he's used to slaying, but humans with wicked hearts. After arriving at the capital and getting robbed, he runs into a young girl who offers to take him to her mansion where he can stay for awhile. It is there he runs into night raid. Night raid is a group of assassins that only attacks at night. When he asks them why they would kill an innocent girl they show him to a hidden room, where he finds out that those he thought were good are evil, and those he thought were evil are actually good. He is then scouted to be part of Night Raid. Can Tatsumi make it as an assassin, and right the wrongs plaguing this world?

Akame ga Kill was a far more intense anime than I had imagined. I think the reason for this is that most fantasy anime I am used to watching have a really lighthearted feeling. I have only seen a few dark fantasy and death game type anime. Though seeing as the main group is an organization of assassins, I should have expected there to be a lot of deaths. There are a couple beach episodes where the characters wear swimsuits, as well as a girl who wears clothes that expose her stomach. There is some swearing, but it doesn't happen too often. I think the anime is good and would definitely suggest giving it a watch if you enjoy anime that have a lot of fighting in it.

Kaguya-sama: Love Is War -Stairway to Adulthood-

The Student Council of Shuuchin Academy is back. Chika Fujiwara wants to play a prank on Kaguya for her birthday. She suggests that Miyuki pretend to be her boyfriend. But seeing as how He and Kaguya just started dating he turns down the idea. She then proceeds to suggest the same thing but with Yuu Ishigami. The mood completely changes when she tells Miko that her and Ishigami are dating. Later Miyuki and Kaguya have their first voice call which ends up going till five in the morning, leaving both of them sleep deprived.

The specials for Kaguya-sama were pretty fun to watch. The title makes it sound like an ecchi anime, but the only questionable thing that happens is some kissing between Miyuki and Kaguya. There is a shower scene but all you see is Kaguya's silhouette. You do see Miyuki Shirogane shirtless in the bath for a second, but its pretty forgettable. Overall it was fun and made me want to rewatch the series. I would definitely suggest it if you enjoyed the seasons and movie that came before these specials.

SHOSHIMIN: How to become Ordinary Season 2

After Jougoro Kobato and Yuki Osanai decide to start seeing other people, Jougaro starts dating Tokiko Nakamaru and Yuki starts dating Takahiko Urino. Takahiko decides to join the school newspaper and wishes that they could start writing about non school topics. When another member suggests that they open up a new column to write about a local fundraiser, Takahiko believes it's his chance to make a difference. So he starts writing about a series of arsons that have been happening in Kiba. While the newspaper does start to gain popularity, Jougoro suspects that there's more to the story than just what Takahiko is writing about and decides to investigate himself. Will everyone come out of things safely?

SHOSHIMIN: How to become Ordinary Season 2 was a lot different than season 1 was. While the mysteries  are interesting in season 2, I really liked how Season 1 had a lot more mysteries to solve. Shoshimin Season 2 was pretty slow moving for me, though season 1 was like that as well. All of season 2 remained clean both visually and verbally. If you are a fan of mystery anime, I would suggest giving Shoshimin a try.

Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest Season 3

As Hajime and his classmates ride in his newly formed airship they see a group of rabbits being pursued by imperial soldiers. However, rather than getting caught they lure the soldiers into a trap and attack them. Hajime, Shea, and Yue recognize them as Shea's family and the same bunny's that Hajime trained to be strong back when he first met Shea. He lands his ship and after talking with the bunnies, they learn that Shea's dad along with a group of other bunnies from her clan have disappeared after illegally entering the empire. Hajime, Shea, and Yue find out where Shea's dad and friends are being held and release them from prison.

Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest Season 3 was far better than I was expecting. Some viewers complained about the animation and the length of the time in the labyrinths, but I though both were great. I couldn't really tell a difference in the animation. I don't typically notice that type of thing, but if I do notice, it has to be blatantly clear like what happened in Demon Lord, Retry Season 1 & 2. There are some inappropriate jokes in this season, but for the most part its clean. There is a bit of swearing in it as well. However, if you enjoyed the first and second season I would definitely give season three a try as well.

The Most Notorious "Talker" Runs the World's Greatest Clan

Noel Stollen is the grandson of the world's strongest warrior, Overdeath. At a young age Noel made a goel to become the strongest seeker there is. However, he unlike his grandpa, Noel was given the class of talker which is widely considered to be the weakest class there is. Years after strict training by Overdeath, Noel starts his own party called blue beyond. Though Noel's companions don't take him seriously, and even Gamble away all the money that the party earned. With so many people against him, will Noel be able to reach the top?

The Most Notorious "Talker" Runs the World's Greatest Clan is a lot darker than most fantasy anime. There is more betrayal in this anime than in any other I have seen. On the bright side there is hardly any fan service. There is just a small scene at the beginning of episode four where you see Alma wearing only a towel while she is in bed with noel. I would definitely suggest giving it a try. Noel is unlike most main characters. The closest I can compare him to is Hajime Nagumo from Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest and shadow from The Eminence in Shadow. He has the condescending attitude of Hajime and the joy of crushing his enemies that shadow has.

Oshi no Ko Season 2

Akane, Kana, and Aqua have all been invited to participate in a stage play adaption of a popular manga known as Tokyo Blade. Meanwhile Ruby and Mem-cho do what they can to earn an income without having any concerts set up. While the actors have all been doing their best to bring the manga characters to life,  Akane feels like her character has been given a completely different personality than the one she envisioned while reading the manga. After a few days of rehearsing the author of the manga comes to see it acted out and tells the staff that she want the entire script rewritten, With only 20 days left until the play is brought to the public, will the staff be able to accommodate this request?

Oshi no Ko Season 2 was really enjoyable for the majority of the season. The appeal of Oshi no Ko for me is its focus on the entertainment industry and the different types of occupations one could have. You also see Aqua start to accept himself which I was really happy with. However, at the very end, the anime suddenly turns super dark. I really enjoyed Ruby as a character, but her change in attitude and demeanor after being made aware of what happened after she died in her past life was disappointing to me. It was as if Aqua and her had simply switched places. Though its not surprising for someone to change after learning that someone they loved died. You could say the outcome should have been expected, but it still surprised me. Despite my disappointment with the ending I still love it enough that I'll watch season 3 when it comes out. There was a hot springs scene in the last episode but its censored with mysterious fog that comes out of nowhere. Anyway, if you liked season 1, I would definitely give this season a shot.

Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- Season 2

After defeating the white whale and saving Emilia and the kids from an explosion, Subaru confesses his love for Emilia. However, feeling guilty he tells her that Rem had also given him a confession as well. That is when Emilia asks if Rem is someone she is supposed to know.  Confused because Rem had not been hit by the White whale's fog, he tries to find out what happened. With the help of Puck, Subaru learns that Rem's name and memories have been eaten by a disciple of the witch of Gluttony. This had the same effect as the white whales fog. Everybody except Subaru has totally forgotten who she is despite the fact that she is still alive. Will Subaru be able to find a way to fix it this time?

Re:Zero Season 2 was pretty interesting. I thought that Subaru had stopped being annoying but he goes back to being that way around the end of the season. Everybody dresses modestly and the language remains clean as well. If you liked Season 1 you can feel free to give this one a try as well.

Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-

After Subaru Natsuki goes shopping one night he is suddenly transported to another world. However, unlike most other Isekai heroes he is not blessed with powers, but has a curse placed on him instead. This curse allows him to go back to a certain point in time if he happens to die. Soon after he comes to this world he meets a half-elf girl who introduces herself as Satella. She asks him if he knows anything about her insignia that was stolen. While Subaru is unaware of what happened he agrees to help her look.  He eventually finds out where it is and after revealing his intentions to give it back to the owner he is promptly sliced open by an assassin known as The Bowel Hunter. After multiple failed attempts that result in his death he is finally able to return the Insignia with the help of a knight known as Reinhard Van Astraea.

I am not going to lie Re:Zero was definitely an anime that was incredibly hard to watch for me. I think the anime could have been amazing if Subaru had used his brain. He eventually does around episode eighteen and from there it became easily watchable for me. However, there were many things that could have been fixed if he had made minor tweaks to his strategy like not revealing that it was his intention to give Emilia the insignia. Had he done that rather than completely changed his plan from the first time things would have gone a lot smoother. The season is visually clean, though there is a lot of swearing. There is a bath scene, but none of the girls are involved. It is just between Roswaal Mathers and Subaru. Overall, I feel like I have seen many Isekai's that are better than this one, but a lot of people like it. If you think it sounds interesting you can give it a try.

Kaguya-sama: Love is War -Ultra Romantic- Season 3

Iino walks into the Student Council Room to find Ishigami alone. After voicing her disgust that she had the displeasure of running into him she puts on her music so she can study. However, her headphones aren't all the way plugged in so what she's listening to can be heard aloud by everyone. As the other Student Council members walk in Ishigami does everything he can to let her know that her headphones are unplugged without telling her directly. Despite his best efforts her embarrassing taste in music get exposed. On another day the student council are bringing items into the Student Council Room. After seeing Ishigami struggle to carry a desk inside, Chika Fujiwara suggests that they have an arm wrestling competition to see who is the strongest.

Kaguya-sama Season 3 was better than I remembered. I think the addition of Maki Shijo made it a lot better for me. She's a character that is easy to relate to in multiple ways for me. Also it feels like the relationships actually progress this season, which I didn't feel at all in the previous two. Everybody dresses modestly and the language is kept clean. Overall, I would definitely suggest it since it is what I was hoping for in Season one and two.

Kaguya-sama: Love is War? Season 2

In hopes of furthering their relationship Ai Hayasaka sneaks into the Student Council Room and switches out the coffee that the president uses for decaffeinated coffee. This causes Shirogane to fall asleep, but rather than taking advantage of the situation, Kaguya freezes up. After that Chika Fujiwara comes in with a game she and the game club created and asks everyone to play. Reluctantly Kaguya, Shirogane, and Ishigami agree to play. However, many of the things that happen in the game reflect reality a little too well making everyone besides Fujiwara depressed.

Kaguya-sama: Love is War Season 2 is really good. A lot of interesting things happen like an election for a new student council, and the reveal of Ishigami's past which lets you know why he seems to be depressed all the time. The Season stays clean visually. However, there is some swearing throughout it. Overall, if you liked the first season I would definitely give Season 2 a try as well.

Arifureta - From Commonplace to World's Strongest: The Miraculous Meeting and the Phantasmagorical Adventure

Hajime, Shia, Tio, Kaori, Remia, Myu, and Yue are all sitting around a table after finishing another labyrinth. Hajime knows that he can't be around Myu forever, but wants to have one last adventure before they part ways. The group hears about an area at sea that glows at night and then something appears. They go to check it out but after getting caught up in what looks like a tornado they are transported to a ruined city. It is there that they meet the Liberators who created this world's Labyrinths. Together they form teams to get back to their proper times and locations.

Arifureta - From Commonplace to World's Strongest: The Miraculous Meeting and the Phantasmagorical Adventure was really fun to watch. It was cool to see the personalities of each of the liberators, because you only get a brief idea of who they are when watching the main series. The OVA stays clean both visually and humor wise. The language is clean as well. If you liked the main series I would definitely suggest giving the OVA's a watch.

Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest Season 2 Special

Hajime, Yue, Myu, Shia, and Tio are all in the car while Kaori is helping to heal someone she saw lying on the side of the path. While they wait for her Tio and Shia mention that they would like to learn magic from Yue. After Myu decides that she would like to join in as well, they invite Hajime to join. However, Hajime tells them that he refuses to join and they should do the same. However, the girls all ignore his warning and decide to practice their magic, but after spending a few minutes trying to copy Yue's technique all three girls lose faith that they'll actually be able to pull of the things that Yue does. After Koari gets back they head to a city where they all decide to go shopping, But when Myu says that she would like to try on Yue's clothes rather than the ones in the shop all the girls decide to trade clothes to see what they look liike on each other.

Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest Season 2 Special was interesting. The episode stays pretty clean with the exception of Shia's outfit which is pretty revealing. The language stays clean which is good. If you enjoyed Season 1 and Season 2 I think that you will enjoy the special as well.

Talentless Nana

People have started appearing with superpowers that are labeled as the talented. They're given a mission to destroy the enemies of humanity. To pursue that goal a school was made on a deserted island where all the talented are sent to learn how to use their powers. There are those who are arrogant and show off their power as much as possible, and there are those who hide it. Among these students is a girl named Nana who claims that she is a mind reader, when really she is talentless. However, she tricks everyone by using her observation skills to accurately guess what others are thinking. This is all a cover to hide the fact that she has been sent to the island with the order to kill the talented. Will she be able to survive, or will the difference in ability prove to be too much?

Talentless Nana was a difficult watch to be honest. I don't know if it was intentional on the authors part, but you can't help but hate Nana. There are people among the talented who seem like genuinely good people, but that doesn't matter to her. Also Kyouya Onadera and Jin Tachibana are about the only people who make this show watchable. Even though Nana goes on a killing spree Kyouya is about the only one who suspects her, while the other students seem completely unaffected by the death of their classmates. On the bright side, the language is clean. The characters all dress modestly. While their is a bath scene with Michiru you only see her leaning face down over the bathtub, so it didn't seem inappropriate to me. So while the story wasn't for me, if you are interested in the premise up above I would say feel free to give it a try.

Liar, Liar

Hiroto Shinohara gets lost after just arriving to academy island due to neglecting the instructions on how to use his phone. He runs into a girl all by herself who helps him get to where he needs to. However right as they get to his district she is sprayed by a sprinkler which soaks her clothes. She then suspects that Hiroto set her up and challenges him to a game. A turn based version of a staring contest. However, if you react at all you lose. Both sides do okay until in the middle of the game the girl is sprayed again, which makes her embarrassed, causing her to lose the game. After arriving at Eimei academy Hiroto runs into trouble because while games are a daily occurrence on academy island he didn't beat just anyone. He beat Sarasa Saionji, the granddaughter of academy island's founder. She is known as the empress due to never having lost a game. She also happened to be a seven star, the highest rank someone can attain on academy island. The headmaster points out that there is a way to resolve the situation and tells him to look at his device. It is there that he sees a red star where his previous white star was. This red star has the ability to let you tell one lie. Hiroto uses this opportunity to announce to everyone that he is the strongest on academy island, a seven star, when really he has only one star. Will Hiroto be able to keep the act up despite his lack of skills?

Liar, Liar was really good in my opinion. It reminded me a lot of The asterisk war mixed with the Irregular at Magic High School if you took away the fan service from both of them. There isn't any swearing in the english sub, but in the english dub it swears around 5 times. In the first episode when Sarasa gets sprayed with the sprinkler her shirt becomes see through enough that you see the color of her bra, but not her skin. In episode 7 Shirayuki and Sarasa get in the bath with Hiroto, but in their swimsuits so they are not naked together. Besides that everybody dresses modestly.  I think it is definitely worth a watch. If you don't mind the things I mentioned I would suggest giving it a try.

Oshi No Ko

Both Aquamarine and Ruby Hoshino remember their previous lives. Aqua was a doctor and Ruby was a patient of his who introduced him to the Idol Group B Komachi. One day the main star of B Komachi shows up at Aqua's hospital pregnant with twins. Right before he is able to do the surgery a stalker of Ai Hoshino comes looking for her and kills him. After losing consciousness he wakes up in the body of Ai's son and grows up as her child. Both Ruby and Aqua want what is best for their family So they join the entertainment industry. Aqua becomes an actor and Ruby becomes an idol like her mom. She even takes up the name B Komachi since the group had split. Will Aqua and Ruby be able to see their wishes fulfilled?

My Star better known as Oshi No Ko has become one of my favorite anime's so far. I would suggest it to anyone who is curious. However, it does deal with topics that other anime's don't typically cover such as stalking, murder, cyberbullying, and suicide. If you don't like those kinds of things it is something to be aware of. The anime is completely clean as far as how people dress and act. There is swearing here and there but it doesn't happen too often.
