A Livid Lady’s Guide to Getting Even: How I Crushed My Homeland with My Mighty Grimoires

Elizabeth Leiston is the crown princess of the Kingdom of Haldoria. She has made generous contributions to the citizens of the kingdom through her company, Funnel Trade Group. She also takes care of many of the administrative responsibilities that keep the government running. Despite all this, the crown prince announces that he is breaking off their engagement and marrying another girl named Sylvia Lockit. Prince Friede then imprisons Elizabeth on false charges and spreads rumors portraying her as a villain. That night, while in her prison cell, Elizabeth decides to seek revenge—not just on the prince, but on the entire kingdom. She uses her magic to escape her cell and uses her connections to move to the empire bordering Haldoria. There, she starts a new life as a merchant selling cosmetics. However, that's just a front to help her carry out her revenge. Will Elizabeth really be able to take down an entire country?

A Livid Lady's Guide to Getting Even: How I Crushed My Homeland with My Mighty Grimoires was really good. There was something strange about it to me, though. Not a single person in the entire country questioned the rumors, except for those who worked under Elizabeth. Even the poor people she had helped, along with the king and her own father, turned their backs on her. I can kind of understand why she wanted revenge.

As for the content, the characters dress modestly for the most part, except for a small scene where Elizabeth and her associates go to the beach and wear swimsuits. There isn't any swearing either. I would definitely recommend it if you enjoy fantasy anime. 

Though I Am an Inept Villainess

Reirin Kou is the most popular maiden in the Inner Court. She is so graceful that people have started calling her the Butterfly. On the flip side, Keigetsu Shu is the most hated maiden in the Inner Court. People have even compared her to a sewer rat. One night, as a comet passes by, Keigetsu’s jealousy reaches its peak, causing her to push Reirin over the edge of a tower. When Reirin wakes up, she finds herself inside a jail cell. Her head court lady, Tousetsu, comes to meet her and is unbelievably angry. She begins talking about how wrong it was to push Reirin. That’s when Reirin looks into a puddle and realizes that she is now in Keigetsu’s body.

Tousetsu then hands her a ball of poison and tells her that it is a gift from Reirin, giving her the option to commit suicide. If she refuses, she will have to participate in the Lion’s Judgment. If the lion eats her when she enters the cage, she is guilty. If the lion doesn’t eat her, then she is innocent. Will Reirin be able to convince everyone of what really happened before it’s too late?

Though I Am an Inept Villainess was really good. I had read part of the manga before the anime was released, but I was still surprised by how well they adapted it. There aren’t many anime that have a similar feel to The Apothecary Diaries, so it was exciting to see a story take place in a similar setting. All of the characters are fun to watch, the story flows really well, and the music supports it perfectly. The entire anime is wholesome. There are no lewd scenes and no swearing. I would definitely suggest giving it a try.

The Frontier Lord Begins with Zero Subjects

Dias is a soldier who fought for the kingdom for many years. After the war finally ends, he is awarded a piece of land by the king for his efforts in defending the people. However, when he arrives at his new territory, he finds that it is completely empty. As far as he can see, there is nothing but grass stretching for miles.

When he wakes up the next morning, a girl is standing over him, bombarding him with questions about who he is, how he arrived on the prairie, and what he plans on doing there. After she finishes questioning him, she takes him to a nearby village, which he somehow managed to miss when he explored the area the day before.

When the village leader asks whether he is a friend or an enemy, Dias says that, as the lord of this land, he wants to protect his subjects no matter what. The village chief then asks what he would do if they weren't his subjects. Dias answers that he would still protect them. That's when he realizes that the villagers aren't actually part of his territory.

The village chief acknowledges him as a worthy ally and gives him supplies to help him build a home. She then tells him that if he trades with their village, they will continue to supply him with food, livestock, and anything else he needs. To top it all off, she gives him Alna, the girl who originally found him, to teach him the skills he needs to survive out on the prairie.

After hunting together, Dias and Alna eventually get married and begin looking for new ways to bring subjects into Dias's domain. But will anyone want to move to a land so undeveloped that nobody except the lord and his wife live there?

The Frontier Lord Begins with Zero Subjects was really good. Before I started watching it, I was expecting something similar to Easygoing Territory Defense by the Optimistic Lord, but it turned out to be more like Farming Life in Another World. Even though it was different from what I was expecting, I still really enjoyed it.

The characters are all fun, and I especially liked seeing how they accept each other without judging one another based on their appearance or what happened in their past. While the anime stays mostly clean, there are a scene or two where you see Alna wearing skimpy clothing. If you enjoy fantasy anime where the characters work together to develop the land they live on, I would suggest giving this one a try.

The Troubled Life of Miss Kotoura

 

Haruka Kotoura was born with the ability to read minds. At first, she used it for simple things, like figuring out what kids would choose in rock-paper-scissors so she could win every time. As time went on, she began saying what people were thinking out loud. This caused her friends to call her a liar, and eventually, her parents divorced. Haruka was left alone with her wealthy grandfather. Despite all the hardships she faced, she still wanted to live a normal life and continued going to school.

Once she reached high school, Haruka believed that nobody would ever be on her side—until she met Yoshihisa Manabe. When he first tries to get close to her, she completely ignores him. However, Manabe consistently does everything he can to stay by her side, and she slowly begins to let her guard down. When people start calling her creepy because of her mind-reading ability, Manabe stands up for her and promises that he will never leave her side, no matter what happens.

The Troubled Life of Miss Kotoura was very funny, and I laughed a lot while watching this anime. I honestly hadn't looked up any information about it beforehand, so everything came as a complete surprise. It's a fun romantic comedy.

However, Manabe frequently fantasizes about Haruka in different ecchi scenarios, such as her making food while wearing an apron, a bath scene, and others. There is also a beach episode where the characters wear swimsuits. The anime handled the fan service fairly well through censorship, but it might be better to skip it altogether if you don't like lewd scenes. However, if fan service doesn't bother you and you enjoy romance anime, I would suggest giving The Troubled Life of Miss Kotoura a try.

The Oblivious Saint Can't Contain Her Power

The ducal house of Sanchez has produced great leaders in various fields for generations. The current head of the house has two daughters: Flora, who is considered a candidate for sainthood because of her outstanding talent with healing magic, and Carolina, who has been perceived by the public as clumsy and talentless. A nickname has even spread among the nobility, calling her the “Disgrace of House Sanchez.”

One day, the king visits Carolina and asks if she has someone she loves. He then explains that, due to political tensions between the Kingdom of Celestia and the Malcosian Empire, the Empire has demanded that a noble lady of the highest standing be sent to them as the bride of the second prince, Edward Ruby Martinez. Since the princess of Celestia is already betrothed and Flora is a candidate for sainthood, the duty falls to Carolina.

Rumors have spread far and wide that the second prince is an unfeeling man who cuts down innocent women and children without hesitation. Despite these rumors, Carolina accepts the proposal. Upon her arrival in the Malcosian Empire, she meets the Pyreborn Knights, the order commanded by Prince Edward. However, when she finally meets the prince himself, she is completely caught off guard. He is the complete opposite of the man she was led to believe he was. Will Carolina's new life finally be filled with the happiness she deserved but never received?

The Oblivious Saint Can't Contain Her Power was really good. It has a similar feel to anime like The Too-Perfect Saint, Betrothed to My Sister's Ex, and Pass the Monster Meat, Milady. I always enjoy fantasy/romance anime like this. They give off a special feeling that I don't get from romance anime that take place in Japan. That's not to say there aren't any good non-fantasy romance anime, though. The Dangers in My Heart, which I enjoyed immensely the other week, is a perfect example. The Oblivious Saint Can't Contain Her Power doesn't have any swearing, and there are no lewd scenes in it. If you enjoy fantasy/romance anime, I would definitely suggest giving it a try.

The Garden of Words

Takao Akizuki is a 15-year-old high schooler who has decided to skip first period whenever it rains. He goes to a small, sheltered area where he meets a woman who has decided to skip work and spend her morning drinking beer instead. At first, they don't talk to each other, and Takao simply spends his time drawing in his notebook. But every time he goes to the sheltered area on a rainy morning, she's there as well.

They eventually start talking about life, and Takao opens up about his dream of becoming a shoemaker. He tells her that he is already working on a pair of shoes, though they aren't as good as he would like them to be. She then asks him to make her a pair. While he agrees to do it, the rainy days eventually stop, and with them, his visits to the sheltered area come to an end as well.

Naturally, they meet again, but in the least likely place Takao expected to see her. Will things stay the same once Takao discovers who this mysterious woman really is?

The Garden of Words is exactly what you would expect from a film made by Makoto Shinkai. The animation and artwork are absolutely breathtaking, but I found the story a bit dull. None of his films have really captivated me the way Your Name did, which was the first film of his that I saw. Suzume came close, but ultimately didn't quite reach the same level for me.

The main reason I watched this was because the runtime was less than an hour, so I didn't have any high expectations going in. Despite that, I ended up enjoying it. The music is soothing, and the overall vibe is mellow and peaceful. Everyone dresses modestly, and there isn't any swearing. If you enjoy Makoto Shinkai's films, I would definitely suggest giving this one a watch.

Half-Broken Music Box

One day, while Keiichiro is in a dump, he finds an abandoned helper robot. He believes she's broken and takes her to a repair shop, but they tell him that her model is too old and that the parts are no longer available. Keiichiro takes her home and leaves her in the bathroom before going to bed. When he wakes up, he finds the robot downstairs making him breakfast. However, she has no memory of who she is or what her life was like before she woke up that morning.

When she asks what her name is, Keiichiro names her Flower. He takes Flower around town and teaches her about money so she can do the shopping. After finding out that she has a terrible memory, he buys her a notebook where she can write down what happens during her day so she won't forget. They then go on to experience things that make every day fun for Flower. However, she notices that Keiichiro doesn't smile at all. Is there a way to bring back the happiness that she has seen in the old photos around the house?

Half-Broken Music Box was interesting. It reminded me a little bit of Planetarian, though I think the Planetarian anime left more of an impact on me. Half-Broken Music Box is a good slice-of-life anime. Judging from the art and descriptions I found online, I went into it thinking it was supposed to be an emotional anime like Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day. While it didn't make me sad, I found it relaxing to watch.

The characters all dress modestly, though you do get a glimpse of a pornographic magazine when Flower is cleaning Keiichiro's bedroom. Besides that, it's a pretty wholesome anime. I would definitely recommend it if you're looking for something short and relaxing.

Victoria of Many Faces

After finding out that the agency she worked for had betrayed her, Chloe decides to fake her death and run away. As a former spy, she is well-versed in hiding herself and flees to another country under the fake name Victoria Sellers. There, she meets a little girl named Nonna who has been abandoned by her family. Victoria decides to take her in and raise her.

After using her skills to help capture a thief, Victoria becomes acquainted with Jeffrey Asher, the captain of the Second Order of Knights. To thank her for helping capture the criminal, he agrees to become her guarantor. Victoria quickly finds a job that will allow her to take care of Nonna while also providing them with a place to live. Although she wishes to find a normal, peaceful life, the extreme cautiousness she developed as a spy may continue to keep that happiness just out of reach.

Victoria of Many Faces was a good anime. The romance did feel a little rushed, but I can't complain too much since it was only nine episodes long. I really enjoyed the mix of action and romance. The anime had a similar feel to Spy x Family, but the medieval setting gave it a more relaxed feeling to me. If you're looking for an enjoyable romance anime, I would suggest giving Victoria of Many Faces a try.

Cosmic Princess Kaguya!

Iroha Sakayori is the perfect honor student. She excels at everything she puts her mind to. However, in order to pay for her house and save money for college, she works extremely hard, leaving her with hardly any time to focus on her hobbies. Her few sources of enjoyment are playing virtual reality games and listening to the virtual idol Yachiyo sing.

One day, after finishing work, Iroha sees a shooting star. She makes a wish for more money and then heads home. When she arrives on the street where her house is located, she sees a streetlamp glowing. As she approaches it, two bamboo handles appear, and when it opens, Iroha sees a baby. Afraid of leaving it on the street, she takes it home with her.

Over the course of a weekend, the baby, Kaguya, grows into a teenager. Iroha introduces Kaguya to the world of VR, and they play her favorite game, Tsukiyome. After seeing the virtual idol Yachiyo, Kaguya decides to become a streamer herself. She becomes popular by singing the songs that Iroha writes. However, her newfound popularity may be just a fleeting dream. Not only does she draw the eyes of many fans, but also those who seek to take away the freedom that Kaguya longs to have. Will Iroha have the power to save her new friend?

Cosmic Princess Kaguya was a complete surprise to me. I had read a brief summary of the story of the bamboo cutter a day or two ago, so I understood the story that inspired the movie. I also knew that it took place in the virtual world and included music from posts and summaries I had read online prior to watching it. However, the movie gives the old story a modern take in a way that I wouldn't have predicted. It feels kind of like Seven Senses of the Reunion and Shangri-La Frontier. However, that's only in terms of the fighting style and digital-world aspect. The story is completely different from those two anime in every way.

After an hour and twenty minutes of watching, I was convinced the movie was over based on the events that had played out. But I paused it, only to find out that there was still over an hour left of the movie. It was really good, but it was a bit longer than I was expecting.The entire thing was wholesome. There were no lewd scenes or swearing. I would definitely suggest giving it a try if you enjoy music anime and virtual reality anime.

My Hero Academia Season 4

After All Might's retirement, the public is wondering if there is still any hope left in the world. Many reporters have been writing about All Might's past, but a certain agency wants to do something different. So they hire freelance journalist Taneo Tokuda to infiltrate U.A. High School and report on Class 1-A who All Might has been spending an incredible amount of time with. Through a series of observations and deductions Taneo figures out that Deku is All Might's Successor. He tells Deku this directly, but promises not to alert the public about it...at least not anytime soon.

My Hero Academia Season 4 was really good. The fights between The Yakuza and The Heroes was amazing to see. You also get to see Deku steadily improve his fighting style. I really enjoyed the addition of Eri this season. It's fun to see her personal growth as well. There were no lewd scenes, or any swearing this season. If you enjoyed previous seasons, I would definitely suggest giving this one a try as well.  

My Hero Academia Season 3

It's summer vacation for U.A. High School and Class 1-A plans to use this time to the fullest. After hearing the girls say they want to swim over summer, Mineta and Kaminari approach Deku to help them convince Aizawa to let them use the pool for training purposes. Things go smoothly with the approval; but unfortunately for Mineta, the girls aren't dressed in bikinis, but in school swimsuits. After that Class 1-A uses the rest of their summer to go to their training camp in the forest with the hope that they'll improve enough to get provisional licenses, allowing them to act as heroes in cases of emergency. However, The League of Villains won't stand idly by while the students of Class 1-A gets stronger.

My Hero Academia Season 3 was super good. I really enjoyed seeing Deku and his classmates improve as they strive to become heroes. The season is mostly clean, but you do see the girls of Class 1-A in bikinis in Mineta's imagination. There is also a hot spring scenes during the training camp. If you enjoyed the first two seasons, I would definitely recommend giving season 3 a watch as well.

My Hero Academia: Two Heroes (Movie 1)

One day All Might asks Deku if he wants to go to I-Island; A place where the greatest scientific minds gather together to study quirks and develop technology that can support the heroes around the world. After arriving they meet Melissa, the daughter of All Might's long-time friend David Shield. She invited All Might as a surprise for her Father who is participating in the I-Expo where peoples inventions are shown off. However, things go awry when a group of villains show up and Hijack the city as well as restrain the heroes attending the Expo. Will Deku and his friends be able to save the city?

My Hero Academia: Two Heroes takes place between Seasons 2 & 3, right after the Final Exam Arc. Though it does have a prequel. Episode 58 or Season 3 episode 20 serves as a prequel to the movie. I really enjoyed Two Heroes. You get to see Deku's power unrestrained thanks to an invention made by Melissa. If you enjoy My Hero Academia, I would definitely suggest giving the movie a try. 

Chained Soldier Season 2

Yuuki and the 7th Squadron are back. While Yuuki continues to take care of chores, Himari is upset because he keeps getting the clothes mixed up. While he deals with that the Supreme Commander of the Demon Defense Force has called him to the next meeting with all the commanders. During their gathering at the 10th squad's base, they are attacked by a swarm of Shuuki that are controlled by humans. Two of the captains take care of the Shuuki, while Kyouka and Yuuki offer to help the Supreme Commander defeat the humans. However, by the time Yuuki and Kyouka arrive, the humans had already been defeated. Since Yuuki didn't do anything significant The Supreme Commander Ren Yamashiro watches as Kyouka gives Yuuki head pats for his reward. This makes Ren curious about what Yuuki would be like if he was lent out to the other commanders. Will Yuuki get stronger, or will the stress just weigh him down?

Chained Soldier Season 2 was amazing. The battles that occurred were absolutely wild. The action made me want another season for sure. However, there is an unreal amount of lewd scenes in this season as well. There are tons of hot spring scenes, a beach episode, and lots of kissing. If you don't like fan service, you can skip this one.

My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Season 2

The Crawler and Pop Step are back. After Knuckleduster disappeared on them, they continued their patrols in Naruhata. One day Makoto tells Pop Step about an event in Osaka where she could perform as an idol. So Pop Step heads over along with Koichi. However, Koichi misses the train and uses his quirk to race alongside it. In desperation, he jumps onto the side of the train and surprisingly is able to hang on until the next stop. This new facet of his quirk opened opportunities for new ways to fight villains. Once they finally get to the site, they see a number of other idols. One in particular stands out as she's dressed as a crab and tells crab jokes. However, after she runs off by herself, mysterious things start happening around the venue. Will The Crawler and Pop Step be able to save the day?

My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Season 2 was super fun to watch. You get to learn about the past of some of the side characters like Eraserhead, Captain Celebrity, and Makoto. I was a little bit disappointed with the ending, but not enough to disregard how good the rest of the season was. The season stays clean for the most part, but there are some outfits that are pretty revealing. I would definitely suggest giving Vigilantes a try even if you haven't seen the main My Hero Academia series. 

Marika's Love Meter Malfunction

One night while Kanata is with his childhood friend, Marika, they see a shooting star. After realizing that he's very unpopular, Kanata wishes that he could tell how much girls like him, like in a dating simulator. The next day he wakes up, and he can see all the girls love meters. However, when he looks at Marika's, it's like everything is draining out. Kanata believes this must be because she hates him. However, Marika loves Kanata so much that it can't be measured. Will Marika and Kanata be able to get together, or will misunderstandings keep them apart? 

Marika's Love Meter Malfunction was  pretty entertaining for an anime where the episodes are only five minutes long. There are multiple beach scenes, a bath scene, as well as other ecchi tropes like Marika only wearing an apron as she cooks in the kitchen. If you don't like ecchi anime, you can skip over this one. If lewd scenes don't bother you, then it might be worth a try.

My Hero Academia: Vigilantes

In this world 80 percent of people have developed superpowers known as quirks. Those with powerful quirks go on to become heroes who are paid to help society. Those who disrupt the natural order of things are known as villains and are targeted by heroes. However, who helps people when there aren't any heroes around to save them? Koichi Haimawari has always wanted to be a hero, but he doesn't have a powerful enough quirk to become licensed. So he uses his quirk to perform community service like giving people directions, taking out the trash, and returning lost items to people. One day, while Koichi is talking with a street idol named pop step, they get attacked. a masked man called knuckleduster falls from the sky and saves them. He tells Koichi that he'll turn him into a hero. Together Knuckleduster, Pop Step, and Koichi now known as "The Crawler" form a team of Vigilantes; Heroes who work outside of the law. 

My Hero Academia: Vigilantes was more entertaining than I thought it would be. I partially started this to see if I would be interested in the main My Hero Academia Series and partially because I read the beginning of the manga. The I feel like the relationship between the two is like Sword Art Online and Gun Gale Online. While they both take place in the same world they feel pretty disconnected. I think it's a really fun series though. The Hero Association and the random villains popping out of nowhere reminded me a little bit of One Punch Man. There isn't any lewd scenes in the season, but there are some outfits that show a lot of skin if that bothers you. I would definitely suggest giving it a try. 

Umamusume: Cinderella Gray Season 1 Part 2

After losing to Tamamo Cross at the Tenno Sho, Oguri is determined to beat her at the Japan Cup. Though Oguri can tell that Tamamo posesses something that she doesn't, and she won't be able to beat her unless she obtains it herself. Meanwhile Racers from all over the world come to japan to compete in the Japan Cup. Sensing that there could be trouble with all the unknown racers, Musaka sends Belno Light to work undercover as a reporter and learn everything she can, so Oguri can be prepared when the time comes. But will Belno's Research and Musaka's advice be enough to close the gap between where Oguri is and where she strives to be?

Umamusume: Cinderella Gray Season 1 Part 2 was absolutely wild. While the Japan Cup was intense, The Arima Kinen was even more so. While the races didn't seem as frequent as they did in the first cour, the ones that do happen are definitely worth the wait. I really enjoyed seeing more slice of life type scenes this time around. I feel like you get to know Oguri's classmates a lot more, which is really fun, and makes you want to see more of them. Yaeno Muteki, Sakura Chiyono O, Mejiro Arden, and Dicta Striker in particular left an impression on me. The season has no lewd scenes, but there is a bit of swearing here and there. If you enjoyed the first cour, I would definitely suggest giving the 2nd cour a watch as well.

OSHI NO KO Season 3

It's been six months since B-Komachi's latest song. Aqua has started doing a talk show, while Akane is in a movie. Mem-cho and Kana continue their work as idols, while Ruby manages to rise in popularity by making a surprise appearance as a reporter on Aqua's current show. This makes the subscriber count for B-Komachi's Youtube channel skyrocket, So much so that Kana and Mem wonder if they are actually helping the group. Will things continue to work out as they have been, or will the toxic entertainment industry become too much for Aqua and Ruby to bear?

I will admit I didn't like Oshi No Ko Season 3 as much as the other 2 seasons. It doesn't get very involved with the behind the scenes stuff with Aqua's talk show like season 2 did with the 2.5D stage play of Tokyo Blade. It focuses more on the mystery of Ai's death. It was actually kind of stressful to watch, but at the same time there were parts of it that made me laugh really hard though. I was wondering if I was even going to try and watch the fourth season when it comes out, but after seeing the finale I definitely am going to watch it. Everyone dresses modestly and the language is clean. If you enjoyed the first two seasons I would suggest giving the third one a try, but just know it has a completely different vibe from before.

Lonely Castle in the Mirror

Kokoro Anzai has become a shut-in and refuses to go to school. One day her bedroom mirror starts to glow and she goes inside. She is greeted by a little girl wearing a wolf mask along with six other kids about her age that are waiting on the castle stairs. The little girl known as the wolf queen tells everyone that they have a year to find a key in the castle that will grant any wish they desire. However, only one person can have their wish granted, and once it's granted everyone will lose their memories of their time at the castle. They are free to use the castle from 9 am to 5 pm. If they stay any later a wolf will eat them. Kokoro sees this as a chance to escape from the horrors of everyday life. Pretty soon seven strangers turn into seven friends. Will they choose to have their wish granted and lose their memories, or keep their memories without having their wish granted?

Lonely Castle in the Mirror was hard to watch for the first half, but the second half was really good. This movie deals a little bit with bullying and trauma. That's why it was hard for me to get into. The fantasy element was super cool to me though. I really enjoy stories that switch between worlds, and this felt like a unique take on the isekai genre. The language is clean and there are no lewd scenes. I would definitely suggest giving it a try. 

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2

Frieren, Fern, and Stark continue their journey. Now that Fern has been certified as a first-class mage the group heads for the Northern Plateau. On their way there Frieren comes across a crystal that nullifies magic. While it could be sold for a fortune Fern tells Frieren to abandon it as it would put their party in jeopardy if they were to be attacked. Later as they walk away the group falls into an underground cave full of magic nullifying crystals, making Stark the only one capable of fighting. After they leave they come across Wirbel's party, that they met during the First Class Mage Exam. Wirbel tries to recruit Stark to help protect the far north, but Stark declines. With a smile Wirbel says that he looks forward to meeting them again when they arrive in the Far North.

Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Season 2 was really fun to watch. The fights weren't as great as season 1, but the story and slice of life scenes completely made up for it. Though I wasn't expecting there to be lots of fights either, since Frieren: Beyond Journey's End isn't really about that. There is hot spring scenes, but they don't show anything below the shoulders. If you enjoyed Frieren Season 1, I would definitely suggest giving Season 2 a try.
