Botan Kamiina Fully Blossoms When Drunk

It's Botan Kamiina's first year at college. As she goes to meet the girls living in the same dorm as her, she notices that the resident assistant is missing. So, she tells Kanade Gujo, Yaeka Kitamori, and Akane Yusa that she is going to find her. Botan goes to a small area where a lot of stalls are set up. She finds Ibuki Tonami, the RA for the dorm, sitting on a bench and drinking alcohol. Ibuki never lets anyone see her drinking, but when Botan says that she'd like to give the drink a try, Ibuki hands her the cup. After Botan tries the drink, Ibuki learns that Botan and she aren't so different, and maybe it would be nice to drink together again.

Botan Kamiina Fully Blossoms When Drunk was an interesting anime. One of the cool things about this anime is that the art style changes in every episode. I read that the studio had different teams of artists work on each episode, which is why it came out the way it did. The scenery looks absolutely amazing throughout the show. It kind of gave me Encouragement of Climb vibes. There are some yuri aspects to the show, which made it hard to watch at times, but they didn't get overly close, which made it seem more like a normal slice-of-life anime. There are hot spring scenes throughout it, but they didn't feel particularly lewd. The story isn't so fascinating that I felt like I could binge it, but it has a nice, relaxing feel to it. I would say this is a good anime to watch when you are taking a break from anime that are super action-oriented. While this wasn't my favorite, I still think that it's worth watching.

Kaya-chan Isn't Scary

Kaya Sato attends a kindergarten where mysterious events seem to happen. Recently, kids have been falling off the swings and getting hurt. The teachers assume it's because the kids are careless, but Kaya knows the truth. Invisible monsters haunt the playground and wait to push kids off the swing set. Kaya tries to prevent it from happening, but she is labeled a problem child for blocking off the swings. As she is pulled away by a teacher, a boy hops on the swing and is pushed over and over until he is so high that falling would inevitably result in serious injury. Luckily, Kaya steps in and defeats the ghosts with one punch. This is because Kaya is the world's strongest psychic. However, the ghosts don't just appear on the playground—they are appearing all over the city. Will Kaya be able to save those close to her, or will the fear of the unknown drive her away?

Kaya-chan Isn’t Scary was great. It kind of reminded me of Mieruko-chan as well as My Clueless First Friend. While I don’t typically watch horror anime, the art in the picture, as well as the title, made me want to give it a try. The anime has a good balance between horror and slice of life. The horror aspect isn’t overwhelming, and the story properly explains why things are happening while still maintaining a relaxing vibe throughout the anime. There aren’t any lewd scenes or swearing. If you don’t mind the horror genre, I would suggest giving it a try.

Cosmic Princess Kaguya!

Iroha Sakayori is the perfect honor student. She excels at everything she puts her mind to. However, in order to pay for her house and save money for college, she works extremely hard, leaving her with hardly any time to focus on her hobbies. Her few sources of enjoyment are playing virtual reality games and listening to the virtual idol Yachiyo sing.

One day, after finishing work, Iroha sees a shooting star. She makes a wish for more money and then heads home. When she arrives on the street where her house is located, she sees a streetlamp glowing. As she approaches it, two bamboo handles appear, and when it opens, Iroha sees a baby. Afraid of leaving it on the street, she takes it home with her.

Over the course of a weekend, the baby, Kaguya, grows into a teenager. Iroha introduces Kaguya to the world of VR, and they play her favorite game, Tsukiyome. After seeing the virtual idol Yachiyo, Kaguya decides to become a streamer herself. She becomes popular by singing the songs that Iroha writes. However, her newfound popularity may be just a fleeting dream. Not only does she draw the eyes of many fans, but also those who seek to take away the freedom that Kaguya longs to have. Will Iroha have the power to save her new friend?

Cosmic Princess Kaguya was a complete surprise to me. I had read a brief summary of the story of the bamboo cutter a day or two ago, so I understood the story that inspired the movie. I also knew that it took place in the virtual world and included music from posts and summaries I had read online prior to watching it. However, the movie gives the old story a modern take in a way that I wouldn't have predicted. It feels kind of like Seven Senses of the Reunion and Shangri-La Frontier. However, that's only in terms of the fighting style and digital-world aspect. The story is completely different from those two anime in every way.

After an hour and twenty minutes of watching, I was convinced the movie was over based on the events that had played out. But I paused it, only to find out that there was still over an hour left of the movie. It was really good, but it was a bit longer than I was expecting. The entire thing was wholesome. There were no lewd scenes or swearing. I would definitely suggest giving it a try if you enjoy music anime and virtual reality anime.

The Warrior Princess and the Barbaric King

Serafina de Lavillant has trained her whole life to become the perfect knight. After being made knight captain of the first order she goes on an expedition to subdue the barbarians who live to the east of the kingdom of Illdoren. While she is in battle, she gets overpowered by a man and is taken captive. She wakes up and is greeted by a young woman named Cersei who helps make her presentable. Then the man who bested Serafina in battle comes in and proposes to her. While Serfina is hesitant to accept right away, will seeing the barbarians way of life change her mind and heart?

The Warrior Princess and the Barbaric King was really good. It felt different from a lot of romance anime that take place in fantasy settings. I feel like a lot of fantasy romance follow the same formula of the girl getting dumped by a prince and then she finds a better man who treats her right. I actually enjoy that type of romance, so its not a big deal if its repeated for me. However, it was nice to see a romance that doesn't follow the usual formula and is more about getting to know each other while finding out what happiness means for yourself, rather than getting married for politcal reasons, which is how the formula anime usual go. It did have a lot more nudity than I was expecting. While the anime is censored to a degree, it was a little too much for me. There were a lot of bathing in rivers or hot spring scenes, which i don't believe all needed to be there. If lewd scenes here and there don't bother you I think The Warrior Princess and the Barbaric King is worth giving a try.

Killed again, Mr. Detective.

Sakuya Outsuki is the son of the world famous detective Tatsuya Outsuki. However, while Sakuya is a detective, he isn't acknowledged as a good one by criminals, police officers, and detectives alike. The only person who is willing to stay by his side is his assistant Lilithea. One day he gets put on a case trying to uncover if a famous producer is cheating. He gets a ticket to a cruise liner where the producer is staying. It is there that he meets an actress named Yuriu Haigamine who is preparing for a role as a detective in movie. She asks to be Sakuya's apprentice after finding out that he is a detective himself. She then asks for his help looking for a lost cat that belongs to the producer that Sakuya is investigating. As he searches, he finds his way into a storage room where he is killed after finding a dead body. He then wakes up in the lap of his assistant Lilithea, ready to put his all into finding the murderer.

I originally started this because I heard that it had the same vibe as Ron Kamonohashi's Forbidden Deductions. It is similar, in the sense that it's the complete opposite of Ron Kamonohashi's Forbidden Deductions. Instead of having a power to make the murderer kill themselves, Sakuya is the one always getting killed. There is an arc that takes place at a hotel, which kind of reminded me of the hot spring inn case in Ron Kamonohashi's Forbidden Deductions as well. Overall I was a bit disappointed because I had my expectations set to high. It also felt a bit slower to me, meaning it lacked the sense of anticipation of finding out what happens next. While people typically dress modestly throughout the anime, there is a scene at the beginning of episode four where you see Lilithea in her underwear. If you decide to watch it and you don't like fan service, I would suggest skipping the first few minutes of episode four. While it wasn't for me, it might be just the thing for you if you enjoy mystery anime.

Squid Girl Specials

After watching Eiko leave the house mini Squid girl goes back to her bed. However, she finds that a second Squid Girl dressed in black with a black squid hat has stolen her spot in it. In order to take back her property they fight using weapons like colored pencils, rubber bands, and toy trucks. After the Squid Girl dressed in black falls out the window, Squid girl saves her using her tentacles. They make up by eating shrimp chips together and wave good bye as the Squid Girl dressed in black goes back to the ocean.

It was cool to see the Squid Girl Specials because both of them were episodes about tiny squid girl. These only popped up about once per season, so I enjoyed the additonal content. While the last episode does have a beach scene, I would say that the episodes were pretty wholesome overall. If you enjoyed the main series, I would definitely suggest giving the specials a try.

Squid Girl OVA

one of the Three Stooges breaks their nintendo console after accidentally dropping it on the floor. So they decide to make a new console that won't break no matter how hard you throw it, along with games to play on it. They give their inventions to Squid Girl and Eiko to try out. Eiko gets Jealous of Chizuru and Squid Girl since Ayumi is able to talk to them easily. When Ayumi says the reason she can talk to them so easily is because they're not human, Chizuru tries everything in her power to be seen as a normal girl. Squid Girl plays hide and seek inside the house in hopes of surprising Eiko, Chizuru, and Takeru with her hiding skills. However, she is found by Takeru early on, who then joins in on her game of hide and seek. After seeing their shoes are still in the house Chizuru catches on to Squid Girl's plans, and is able to lure her out of hiding with food.

Squid Girl OVA was pretty fun to watch. Usually OVA's feel pretty removed from the main series, but these just felt like additional content to the story. Like the rest of the series most people are dressed in swimsuits since the setting is a restaurant at the beach. While usually it doesn't feel lewd because of the setting, the end of the third episode does feel a bit more fan service heavy than usual, even if it's only for a few minutes. If you enjoyed the rest of the show I would definitely suggest giving it a try as it keeps the same vibe as the main series.

Squid Girl Season 2

Squid girl is back at the Lemon. Squid Girl is working like usual when Eiko brings up that she hasn't accomplished anything in her quest to conquer humanity. This fires her up even more to do everything she can to conquer the surface world. Meanwhile Sanae sees Squid Girl hanging out with Kiyomi and believes that they are both rivals fighting for squid girls attention. One day Squid Girl is helping clean up the beach when she sees Goro taking jellyfish out of the ocean. She challenges him to see who can gather the most jellyfish. Chizuru overhears and turns it into a competition involving everyone at the beach with real prizes for the winners of the competition.

Squid Girl Season 2 was just as good as season 1. Since the entire anime takes place on the beach, there are characters in swimsuits in every episode. This might be considered as a lewd scene to some, but it seems unavoidable given the setting. If you enjoyed Season 1, I would definitely suggest giving Season 2 a try as well.

My Hero Academia: I am a hero too

Eri goes to see Deku to congratulate him on his comeback as a hero, however, he isn't in the Teacher's Office at U.A. High. She is met by Eraser Head, Present Mic, and All Might. After letting her know that Deku has gone home, they turn on the TV which plays a news channel talking about how Deku has risen in the Hero Rankings and how his presence continues to be a positive influence on others. Before she leaves, the teachers mention that Deku will be at Eri's debut concert and that she can congratulate him then. The episode then shows the concert that Eri is performing with her band and the citizens and Heroes who are watching and listening.

My Hero Academia: I am a hero too was great. Even though this special was only 6 minutes long, it still was able to bring tears to my eyes as Eri sang. My Hero Academia is one of a few anime that holds a special place in my heart. I didn't mention this in my previous reviews, but when I finished My Hero Academia Season 8 I had the thought that I will never be able to view other anime the same way again. This special reminded me of how much My Hero Academia has impacted me the last two months. If you have finished all 8 seasons along with the My Hero Academia: More episode, I would definitely suggest giving this a try as well.

Kusunoki's Garden of Gods

Minato Kusonoki has grown up surrounded by Yokai at the inn his parents run. Once his grandpa and grandma died he inherited their home which had previously been filled with Miasma from Evil spirits. However, as he walked into the house, his presence cleansed the evil and turned it into a place where gods can reside. His first resident is Yamagami who is the god of the mountain near Minato's house. Pretty soon more and more gods come to live in the garden, and with each new one Minato starts to see his life change in new ways.

Kusunoki's Garden of Gods was really good. It kind of reminded me of Campfire cooking in another world. The dynamic between Minato and Yamagami feels similar to Fel and Tsuyoshi Mukouda. Though I prefer these two because it feels like Minato complains a lot less than Mukouda. You also learn about a wide variety of desserts which is fun. My favorite part of the series is how they involved onmyoji and had Minato use his power to help them exorcise the evil spirits throughout the town. While there is a hot spring scene, it mainly involves animals so I wouldn't consider at as a lewd scene. If this sounds interesting to you, I would definitely recommend giving it a try.
