Tatsumi is a boy from a rural village who dreams of making it rich in the capital to save his impoverished village. However, after getting separated from his friends he is given a warning that the capital is full of monsters. Not the magical beasts that he's used to slaying, but humans with wicked hearts. After arriving at the capital and getting robbed, he runs into a young girl who offers to take him to her mansion where he can stay for awhile. It is there he runs into night raid. Night raid is a group of assassins that only attacks at night. When he asks them why they would kill an innocent girl they show him to a hidden room, where he finds out that those he thought were good are evil, and those he thought were evil are actually good. He is then scouted to be part of Night Raid. Can Tatsumi make it as an assassin, and right the wrongs plaguing this world?
Akame ga Kill was a far more intense anime than I had imagined. I think the reason for this is that most fantasy anime I am used to watching have a really lighthearted feeling. I have only seen a few dark fantasy and death game type anime. Though seeing as the main group is an organization of assassins, I should have expected there to be a lot of deaths. There are a couple beach episodes where the characters wear swimsuits, as well as a girl who wears clothes that expose her stomach. There is some swearing, but it doesn't happen too often. I think the anime is good and would definitely suggest giving it a watch if you enjoy anime that have a lot of fighting in it.
