After Allen quits his job as Cecil Granvelle's manservant and becomes the Granvelle family's honored guest, he heads back home to Krena Village. He briefly meets with his family to explain that he is leaving for Academy City and won't be able to drop off money as easily as before. Before leaving, he gives them a bag containing 100 gold coins.
When he returns to the Granvelle Estate, he is greeted by an upset Cecil, who is frustrated that he didn't tell her he had quit being her personal manservant. Before he has a chance to respond, Krena and Dogora arrive at the mansion in a carriage. After eating and talking with the Viscount and his family, they set off for Academy City.
Once they arrive at the school, everyone places their hand on a magical orb that reveals their stats. However, Allen encounters the same problem he did during his appraisal ceremony: all of his skills are displayed as E-Rank, causing him to fail the assessment. Just as Cecil begins questioning whether something is wrong, the hero Helmios arrives alongside the headmaster. Helmios possesses the appraisal ability and reveals that Allen is actually talented enough to enroll.
After taking the entrance exam, Allen, Cecil, Krena, and Dogora all pass. The first thing they do after successfully enrolling is visit the Adventurer's Guild to register as adventurers. They then decide to start exploring dungeons so they can become as strong as possible.
After stopping for the day and finding a house, Cecil and Allen explain their goal to Dogora and Krena: they intend to fight in the war and defeat the Demon Lord after graduation. Allen has been asked by both Viscount Granvelle and Cecil's recently deceased brother, Mikhail, to protect her. Since Krena is expected to become a noble after graduation, she will also be required to fight in the war because of the Nobles' Duty. Dogora agrees to fight alongside them despite having no obligation to do so because of his commoner status. Will Allen and his friends become strong enough to take on the Demon Lord's Army?
HELL MODE: The Hardcore Gamer Dominates in Another World with Garbage Balancing Season 2 was awesome. I've always enjoyed the magic school trope in isekai anime, so Season 2 was especially enjoyable for me.
I love the way this anime handles dungeons. Rather than simply entering caves to fight monsters, all the dungeons are technologically controlled by the Adventurers Guild. Each dungeon is assigned a rank, and adventurers are only allowed to enter dungeons that match their current rank or are below it. This system makes a lot of sense because it allows adventurers to fight monsters they are strong enough to handle without putting themselves in unnecessary danger. In that regard, the anime reminds me of Solo Leveling.
All the characters dress modestly, and there are no fan-service scenarios, although there is some swearing here and there. If you enjoy anime where adventurers explore dungeons and fight monsters, I would definitely recommend giving this one a try.
